Moi has more than a passing familiarity with Drag and moi also has some acquaintance with Brunch, but - a DRAG BRUNCH??!! Moi's mind reeled and the ground swayed under moi's feet when Tintin mentioned the concept. After all, aren't girls of our persuasion best seen and appreciated in the dim lights of a club or the harsh but ultimately forgiving glare of streetlamps? So the concept of drag at a time when many Tgirls are just stirring from their beauty sleep seemed outre Tintin, however, persevcred and persuaded moi to front his expenses. And he did not disappoint, as you will see. The venue? A little place called the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Fran; more particularly, Harry Denton's Starlight Room. Now moi does not know H.D. from Adam and how does he rate a Starlight Room all of his own? Unresolved questions. However, brunch there was a-plenty, Tintin reports, and the windows behind the buffet encouraged the notion that this was mid-morning and not midnight. The Mistress of Ceremonies was the irrepressible Donna Sachet, who got the ball rolling with some bitchy one liners The first performer, Lady Tia, started the show with a Diana Ross cover She was followed by Holotta Tymes, a fiery redhead (for now) who has the distinction of formerly being a performer at the legendary Finnochio's in North Beach, now sadly closed. And finally, Cassandra Cass, she of the enormous....talents, got up close to the public (left) before getting on top of the public (right) |
