Tintin was going to meet moi in San Francisco where moi was attending Catwalk 09, but had to travel there separately for reasons of national security.  He did not travel alone, however, serving as chauffeur to moi's friend Carly who was in need of a ride.  Their route took them through the agricultural heartland of California, the great Central Valley.  Tintin had heard that, in spite of its agricultural abundance, it appeared to be lacking in fine dining opportunities, so he and Calry decided to tests out the availability of haute cuisine along the main artery, Interstate 5.  Theri findings about the cosmopolitan eating are remarkable.

Carly makes her final preparations

Now all set to embark on a culinary adventure

The landscape offered little in the way of stimulation

The first cuisine encountered was Hispanic, with their delicious breakfast bowls, or platos de desayuno

Their next stop was at a famous French brasserie (What?  You haven't heard of Jacques dans la Boite?), which was forthcooming with a delicious chilled carbonated beverage.

And who could resist a Scottish restaurant, for gosh sakes?

And finally, to give the lie to the lack of non-native cuisine, Tintin and Carly encountered what must be the epitome of cosmopolitan dining.   After all, if it is called "International". that's gotta mean something, right?

But they eventually tired of having to justify the culinary variety of the San Joaquin Valley.  As they approached the San Mateo Bridge across San Francisco Bay, it was clear that word had gotten out about Tintin's arrival.

And so to the hotel, where Tuesday greeted us
