Erika's Annex Page 699 - Choosing an Empress
|
|
|
|
As happens at about this time every year, the Imperial Court has to agree on the
individual who will be Empress the next year. This year's decision was fraught with
drama, due to the abrupt abdication of the current Empress, Vi, just weeks before the
end of her reign. The reasons? Well, as the French are wont to say "Le coeur a ses
raisons qui la raison ne connait point". Moi assumes that that clears THAT up.
|
|
Anyway, the court was charged to assemble at Empress Amanda's house to assess
candidates. Moi was pressed to stand, but moi demurred. Moi feels that moi's metier is
as an observer, not a participant, behind the camera rather than in the spotlight. Argue
with that if you like, but there you go. If nominated moi would not run and, if elected,
moi would not serve, so there.

There was food, of course - this is a predominantly Pinoy affair, including KFC
which, moi is convinced, is the Filipino national dish.

Finally, Karina
brought the meeting
to order and sought
candidates. As moi
mentioned, moi
demurred, in spite of
much prompting.

Well, there was only
one candidate -
Jennifer, a former
Empress, agreed to
serve again as
Empress. Whew! moi
was relieved.

After business had
been concluded,
Jennifer retired to the
balcony, where the
enormity of what she
had agreed to hit
home.
